Nebraska is part of Great Plains
Every Great Plains region shares one system — the same maps, the same live radar, the same climate record. Nebraska is the state the Platte crosses, and the whole state is arranged along it: I-80 follows the river from the Missouri to the Wyoming line, and the weather follows I-80. The east is corn-belt humid and takes the derechos and the June supercells; the Sandhills in the middle are 20,000 square miles of grass-stabilized dune with almost no one on them; and the Panhandle is High Plains at 4,000 feet, close enough to the Rockies to get upslope snow when Omaha gets rain.
